Keeping Busy or Loosing yourself!?!?!

Yesterday I had the privilege of having conversation with a fairly new friend of mine!  And all I could do was laugh with her because I saw myself in her at that very moment!  She, like myself, is an awesome woman with a big heart, & we love to help other as much as we can.  So we were having conversation about the fact that she had to run somewhere else not only for herself but for someone else as well!  I said, "Girl, you sound like me"...LOL.

Well, right after that I walked into one of the most phenomenal classes my church has called D.O.C., and a very powerful statement was made about understanding.  It simply said, that we need to understand, just because God answers our prayers does not mean our service to him requires us to be someones door mat, or that we have to do anything and everything that comes our way!  Now, before you jump to conclusion, that is what either of us feel.  We enjoy what we do for others, honestly! But when I read the Daily Bread this morning it put that statement into a whole other perspective with this one sentence...Accomplishing a lot for God may make us feel important, but what makes us important to God is what we allow Him to accomplish in us—conforming us into the image of His Son.  Which got me to thinking, whether it's for our families or for God,  I think its more important for us and them to see what we have in us, then what we can do for them!

God never asked us to run ourselves into the ground to serve him, and majority of the time neither do our families.  It's a choice "WE" often make on our own! LOLOLOL  So again, I laughed, because God has a very interesting way of telling us, STOP and TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF..it's OK to do that now.   On this journey of expecting purpose I have discovered my purpose definitely involves MANY things. And while I'm now learning I'm very capable of handling & managing all of them, I don't have to run myself into the ground to do that!  So, if your anything like me...have you lost sight of the fact that you are allowed to sit down & take a break with God, your life, & your family?    ....because you can you know..LOL...God says it's OKAY!!!  Have a great day folks!!!!

Do you need your ears checked?

I find it very funny that there are times in life when I can hear everything & nothing all at the same time! LOL  I'm at this point in life right now where I feel like I need to get my ears checked.  I even thought I might need a hearing aid....LOL.  But then, last night while I was in the movies, watching Wall street, one of the longest movies I've ever seen I felt like I could hear EVERYTHING!!!!! UGHHHHH I heard people chewing, talking, keys dropping, hands rubbing because of the air condition....and so on! All I could do was sit there and laugh...why is it that what we don't want to hear we hear, and what we do want to hear we have to have repeated?

Some days I wonder if that is the case when God watches us?  Do you think he sits back and watches us feeling like what in the world are they "listening" too?  Well I think so..LOL.  It was the most amazing thing for me to discover that early in the book of Genesis Eve got ALL us women folk in trouble for listening to the wrong thing!  In Genesis 3:16 it reads He told the Woman: "I'll multiply your pains in childbirth; you'll give birth to your babies in pain. You'll want to please your husband, but he'll lord it over you."WHYYYYYYYY you might ask, because she listened to the serpent and ate from the tree of knowledge!!! We just have to know everything don't we women! LOL

So I know this is a little off kiltered but I just want to ask you, who, what, or whom are you listening to? Do you need to get your ears checked or do you have selective hearing like most of us?  Share your thoughts....... Be Blessed Ladies & Continue to Expect great purpose in your life!!!

Learning how to forgive! Not why we should forgive, but HOW!

Soooooo, you go through your day really irritated or pissed off about something, and you get to the point where your just tired!!!! Your tired of being mad, hurt, nasty, patient, etc, etc......lol! Now your at the point where you have grown into this new person who really doesn't like dealing with foolishness nor do you have the energy. So how do we forgive ourselves & how do we forgive others? Well, I don't have the answer......yet! Lol but I feel like a peace of it begins with learning how to smile again! Not, fake it till you make it! REALLY SMILE!!!!!!

3 Months Already!!! Will YOU keep his Commandments?

| |

0

Wow, I can't believe it's been 3 months already!  I'm still on my journey, and its amazing to see how far I've come in these three months.  Since I last posted I have gone corporate, I'm also continuing to run my own business, and I still do a lot of work for my church.  So needless to say, I am very busy! LOL  But God is still doing some wonderful things in my life!

This morning I read a daily verse John 14:15 If you love me, then keep my commandments.  This verse was very interesting to me because during the course of my journey it has been difficult to keep not only his commandments, but also my commitments.  I find that I have to push myself really hard to change in areas I never knew existed.  I also noticed how many things change when you change just ONE thing in your life.  But none the less I have progressed!  I have managed to add eating better, drinking more water, & exercising to my daily activities!!! Praise God!!! I have also pushed myself to speak at two speaking engagements that were very out of my norm.  Now, I have to admit, I was so scared.  But out of both experience came opportunities that have blessed me in all areas of my life.

So, what's my point you may ask! LOL Well, I said all that to say...when I listen to the voice of God and not only keep his commandments, but also keep my commitments especially in areas where I think I can't do something things not only work out, but they end up opening other doors for me that I could never have imagined!

So whether it's keeping his commandments or sticking to your commitments PUSH yourself harder to do BOTH better!!! God always has a plan and a purpose for what he instructs us to do.

So I ask you today, have you PUSHED yourself to stick to his commandments and your commitments? If so, how have you been blessed...and if not why and what's keeping you from it?

Get out the Corner, It's time to FIGHT!!!

Hey folks! Sooooooo, obviously it's been a whole week since you've heard from me!  Well, I'm back!  I had a very interesting week non-the-less.  And let me tell you, it knocked me on my butt MENTALLY, SPIRITUALLY, & PHYSICALLY!!! It's truly amazing to me how, once you make up your mind to grow yourself and find new/more purpose for your life the enemy attacks you from every angle.

Well, I got attacked, and it started Sunday night! LOL So, as you can see this blog will not always be a constant everything is great! But it will always be a GOD is GOOD.  God has truly blessed me with so many wonderful sister/friends outside of my awesome blood sisters.  I'm so grateful for each and every one of them and how they have impacted my life in so many amazing ways.

So, over the last week God has taken me through some very low and lonely moments.  But while I was down he help me to see a lot of my own mess & issues.   Now don't get me wrong,  I know I have issues just like the next person, but these things were different.  They were those deep down hurts & pains that we learn how to smile through just because we can.  They are the same hurts and pains that you learn how to bury, which by the time they fill up and explode you looking around like "who said that, and what is their problem"! LOL

Well, some of us are at the point where we can look in the mirror and honestly admit, 'we are that person making all that noise'! And it's time to shut up, step up, and FIGHT!  Now, I'm not sure about you, but I'm ready to face life!  Apparently without me even realizing it,  I've been siting in the corner of the ring watching my own fight.  And all week long my sister/friends have been my 'Patrick Swayze' ...."Nobody puts baby in the corner" (Dirty Dancing)!!! LOLOLOL  They have been Gods appointed angels on earth!  They have assisted God in taking me by the hand and leading me to the center of the ring.  They squeezed my water bottle, vaselined my cuts, and given me some new strategies for how to attack my opponents!!!  And for the first time in a long time, I no longer see myself as a spectator, but as the challenger.   I'm ready to take my life back!  And I'm ready to completely trust God when he takes me through the trails and tribulations.   I've learned that when we give God praise for things we can not see, he sets up victories before we even get back into the ring.  So I'm now saying, "Okay Lord, I know I can't win this fight with my own flesh, but I'm ready and willing for you to use me in being victorious!

So I ask you today....
Are you watching your fight or are you getting ready to come out the corner swinging?

Lets talk about it.....God Bless

Are You Ready to Take Off???

I'm finding this experience of writing a blog to be very interesting!  It's only been three days and I'm already seeing God connect things in my life.  The other day I was having a conversation with my sister/friend Tiffani and I shared with her that I have recently developed a fear of flying!  Its so interesting to me how even if you try not to pay attention to all the negative news, you just can't help but see or hear about all the crazy things going on with flying.

So when my youth minister/brother Rev. David Jefferson Jr. asked a question at church yesterday it peeked real interest in me,  he said "Are you ready for take off?"  Now, I have to be honest...when he asked,  it felt good, I was excited, I was ready!  But what he was asking eventually took on a whole new meaning for me.  Now most of you are probably saying, what's so intriguing about that question? LOL  Well,  I'm glad you asked!  Normally when we hear that question, we have already chosen a destination, purchased a ticket, picked our seat, gone through security, and boarded a plane.  But yesterday when I heard that question, my feet were on the ground and I was standing at the front of the church Praising God!  And as the day went on, I just kept repeating that question to myself.  "Was I ready for take off?"  Well........., are you?

I feel like God is asking us that question!  But instead of us going through the process that God has laid out, we are finding alternate forms of transportation/journeys to get us to our destination/purpose.  So why do we avoid the work/process?  I believe it is because we have to relinquish our control of seeing what's in front of us.  God knows where we're headed, the mistakes we will make along the way, the lessons we will learn because of those mistakes, and that when it's all over we will say "Nobody but God"!   But He also knows that we will try to take all the baggage/people that we can with us, even though it might cause us to either never make it off the ground or crash and burn soon after take off.   He knows that he still has to send us through his own mess detectors, because we will try to take things with us even though we know their not important .  He also knows that when we are about to take OUR trip, other people start wanting to take a trip with us,  even though they don't have a ticket! LOL

So while my daddie/pastor Rev. David Jefferson Sr. was preaching yesterday he re-informed us that it is Gods WILL to move us to a higher ground.  He wants us to set our targets higher.  God is trying to tell us "If you DO what I tell you to do, and GO where I tell you to go, HE'LL GO with us!" Yet for some reason we have gotten comfortable with just ACCEPTING that great feeling of KNOWING we are going to take off, while our feet remain on the ground!  Well, I don't know about you, but I'm tired of talking about taking a trip.  I'm ready to go higher, fears and all!

So I ask you are you ACCEPTING knowing you could take off or are you EXPECTING your flight to take off soon?!?!

Lets Talk about it.........God Bless

Have you Lamented lately?

| |

3

Definition for the day ~ lament:1 : to express sorrow, mourning, or regret  2 : to regret strongly

Many of you are probably saying.....huh?!?! What in the world is lamenting and can you say that in public? LOL Well, to answer your questions... yes you can!

I had the privilege today to get a glimpse of what it feels like to sit in a Drew University seminary class taught by Rev.Dr. Nancy Lynne Westfield, and I must say it was awesome!  Dr. Westfield raised some very GREAT questions.  Her topic was  'A Conversation on Prayer' as I stated in my earlier post, and it was indeed a conversation.  Dr. Westfield gave us a lot of insight on how we pray, and challenged us to question how our prayer life is & whether or not lamenting is apart of it.  So, what is lamenting you ask?  Lamenting is when we truly give God the highest respect, it is when we give God our whole heart.  All of our hurts and pains, our sorrows, our burdens, our deepest wounds.   It is when we are no longer being nice and sweet, but when we become that kid in the grocery store who is yelling and screaming because they either want their way or they want an answer as to why they can't have it! LOL  Lamenting is the point when we expect an answer from God, and the point when 'WE' will stop at nothing until we find him and get an answer to our needs.

Dr. Westfield gave us a very simple analogy, she said "When you want to pray and you don't, you stop breathing!"  Our soul is our very breath.  It is the breath of life that GOD gave us.  If someone came up to you on the street and said "Stop breathing" would you?  No, you wouldn't!  So why do we continue to give God these cutesy prayers?  Why do we continue to cut off our breath, our spiritual connection to God by not activating all of our soul powers and connections?

Well, I have a theory....Dr. Westfield said, "Prayer is about developing Spiritual Maturity, when your prayer/lamenting life is active for your soul, you learn how to intuit God with your gut."  So why did I say all of that....well, as a part of Dr. Westfield's teaching she had us pair up and have none judgmental conversation about a few things.  During that time my partner & sister/friend Kimberly raised a very good point after listening to my responses.  She simply said " I think you know your purpose and what your suppose to do, but you don't want to accept it."  Now, to be honest, I think she has told me that before! LOL But today it hit me differently...today it say what are you afraid of?

So I ask you....Why are we so afraid of MATURING?!?!  Why are we afraid to hear Gods voice, and the truth about what he has in store for us?  Why do we choose to walk around feeling like we don't know, when all we have to do is create that INTIMATE relationship with God.  The one where you can communicate without words, ya'll know what I'm talking about! LOL

Sooooo...........
How is your prayer life? Is lamenting part of your prayer life? Why or why not?

Lets Talk about it......God Bless!

"Everything in the universe has a purpose. Indeed, the invisible intelligence that flows through everything in a purposeful fashion is also flowing through you."
                                                                                                                          - Wayne Dyer

Hey Everybody! I decided to start this blog because I'm on a journey to discover my purpose for a new season in my life.  I don't believe my purpose has changed nor will change completely, but I do believe there is a new purpose that God has for me.  So, I have purchased a few books, journals, and even some new music.  I'm getting ready to embark on a journey of a new/combined me. Mentally, Spiritually, Emotionally, & Physically.  I know I'm not the only one trying to figure out how to merge the past with the present, so why not do it together.......here!

Question of the day.... Is the word  purpose singular or plural to you???  Share your thoughts....
