Are You Ready to Take Off???

I'm finding this experience of writing a blog to be very interesting!  It's only been three days and I'm already seeing God connect things in my life.  The other day I was having a conversation with my sister/friend Tiffani and I shared with her that I have recently developed a fear of flying!  Its so interesting to me how even if you try not to pay attention to all the negative news, you just can't help but see or hear about all the crazy things going on with flying.

So when my youth minister/brother Rev. David Jefferson Jr. asked a question at church yesterday it peeked real interest in me,  he said "Are you ready for take off?"  Now, I have to be honest...when he asked,  it felt good, I was excited, I was ready!  But what he was asking eventually took on a whole new meaning for me.  Now most of you are probably saying, what's so intriguing about that question? LOL  Well,  I'm glad you asked!  Normally when we hear that question, we have already chosen a destination, purchased a ticket, picked our seat, gone through security, and boarded a plane.  But yesterday when I heard that question, my feet were on the ground and I was standing at the front of the church Praising God!  And as the day went on, I just kept repeating that question to myself.  "Was I ready for take off?"  Well........., are you?

I feel like God is asking us that question!  But instead of us going through the process that God has laid out, we are finding alternate forms of transportation/journeys to get us to our destination/purpose.  So why do we avoid the work/process?  I believe it is because we have to relinquish our control of seeing what's in front of us.  God knows where we're headed, the mistakes we will make along the way, the lessons we will learn because of those mistakes, and that when it's all over we will say "Nobody but God"!   But He also knows that we will try to take all the baggage/people that we can with us, even though it might cause us to either never make it off the ground or crash and burn soon after take off.   He knows that he still has to send us through his own mess detectors, because we will try to take things with us even though we know their not important .  He also knows that when we are about to take OUR trip, other people start wanting to take a trip with us,  even though they don't have a ticket! LOL

So while my daddie/pastor Rev. David Jefferson Sr. was preaching yesterday he re-informed us that it is Gods WILL to move us to a higher ground.  He wants us to set our targets higher.  God is trying to tell us "If you DO what I tell you to do, and GO where I tell you to go, HE'LL GO with us!" Yet for some reason we have gotten comfortable with just ACCEPTING that great feeling of KNOWING we are going to take off, while our feet remain on the ground!  Well, I don't know about you, but I'm tired of talking about taking a trip.  I'm ready to go higher, fears and all!

So I ask you are you ACCEPTING knowing you could take off or are you EXPECTING your flight to take off soon?!?!

Lets Talk about it.........God Bless

Have you Lamented lately?

Definition for the day ~ lament:1 : to express sorrow, mourning, or regret  2 : to regret strongly

Many of you are probably saying.....huh?!?! What in the world is lamenting and can you say that in public? LOL Well, to answer your questions... yes you can!

I had the privilege today to get a glimpse of what it feels like to sit in a Drew University seminary class taught by Rev.Dr. Nancy Lynne Westfield, and I must say it was awesome!  Dr. Westfield raised some very GREAT questions.  Her topic was  'A Conversation on Prayer' as I stated in my earlier post, and it was indeed a conversation.  Dr. Westfield gave us a lot of insight on how we pray, and challenged us to question how our prayer life is & whether or not lamenting is apart of it.  So, what is lamenting you ask?  Lamenting is when we truly give God the highest respect, it is when we give God our whole heart.  All of our hurts and pains, our sorrows, our burdens, our deepest wounds.   It is when we are no longer being nice and sweet, but when we become that kid in the grocery store who is yelling and screaming because they either want their way or they want an answer as to why they can't have it! LOL  Lamenting is the point when we expect an answer from God, and the point when 'WE' will stop at nothing until we find him and get an answer to our needs.

Dr. Westfield gave us a very simple analogy, she said "When you want to pray and you don't, you stop breathing!"  Our soul is our very breath.  It is the breath of life that GOD gave us.  If someone came up to you on the street and said "Stop breathing" would you?  No, you wouldn't!  So why do we continue to give God these cutesy prayers?  Why do we continue to cut off our breath, our spiritual connection to God by not activating all of our soul powers and connections?

Well, I have a theory....Dr. Westfield said, "Prayer is about developing Spiritual Maturity, when your prayer/lamenting life is active for your soul, you learn how to intuit God with your gut."  So why did I say all of that....well, as a part of Dr. Westfield's teaching she had us pair up and have none judgmental conversation about a few things.  During that time my partner & sister/friend Kimberly raised a very good point after listening to my responses.  She simply said " I think you know your purpose and what your suppose to do, but you don't want to accept it."  Now, to be honest, I think she has told me that before! LOL But today it hit me differently...today it say what are you afraid of?

So I ask you....Why are we so afraid of MATURING?!?!  Why are we afraid to hear Gods voice, and the truth about what he has in store for us?  Why do we choose to walk around feeling like we don't know, when all we have to do is create that INTIMATE relationship with God.  The one where you can communicate without words, ya'll know what I'm talking about! LOL

Sooooo...........
How is your prayer life? Is lamenting part of your prayer life? Why or why not?

Lets Talk about it......God Bless!

"Everything in the universe has a purpose. Indeed, the invisible intelligence that flows through everything in a purposeful fashion is also flowing through you."
                                                                                                                          - Wayne Dyer

Hey Everybody! I decided to start this blog because I'm on a journey to discover my purpose for a new season in my life.  I don't believe my purpose has changed nor will change completely, but I do believe there is a new purpose that God has for me.  So, I have purchased a few books, journals, and even some new music.  I'm getting ready to embark on a journey of a new/combined me. Mentally, Spiritually, Emotionally, & Physically.  I know I'm not the only one trying to figure out how to merge the past with the present, so why not do it together.......here!

Question of the day.... Is the word  purpose singular or plural to you???  Share your thoughts....
